Each day of the 2008 Newport Flower Show offers guests opportunities to enjoy judged horticultural specimens and floral designs, special garden exhibitions, free lectures and demonstrations, as well as wonderful shopping experiences in both the Oceanside Boutiques and the new Gardeners' Marketplace. Plant Hunting! Saturday, June 28 11 am to 1 pm with Daniel J. Hinkley
A star in the world of horticulture, Dan Hinkley was co-founder of Heronswood Nursery in Washington State, whose catalog listed over 2,400 plants, many of which Dan raised from seed that was collected on lengthy forays around the world. Enjoy a seated private luncheon and learn what's new in the world of plant hunting and collecting rare plants. Author and plantsman Dr. Rick Schoellhorn, Director of New Products for Proven Winners, searches the globe for the best new varieties. If you share a passion for flowers, come and study with the masters. Kathy and Tricky's talents not only won them a blue ribbon at the Newport Flower Show for their breathtaking mass rose arrangement, but they've also been featured in two issues of the new Flower magazine.
